Les Amis (pronounced Léz-a-mee) first opened its doors in 2011, inspired by the French meaning of its name—"the friends." Since our inception, we wanted to create a hair salon that was unconventional. Hair salons are everywhere and opening one is not a difficult task, but creating a vibrant hair salon culture rooted in genuine relationships, transparency, and trust is a herculean feat, and a rare achievement—one that has defined us since day one.

We wanted to build a salon culture that is based on transparency and friendships among employees and clients alike. We broke away from outdated salon structures — no hierarchy of senior and junior hairstylists; no hierarchical pay structures; complete autonomy over work schedules; and a commitment to openly sharing information with every employee have made Les Amis unique from day one. Our philosophy of culture-first, salon-second is embraced by everyone who works here — it has been a key factor to our unfaltering success and continues to shape everything we do.

Today, Les Amis stands as one of the most beloved hair salons in the San Francisco Bay Area. We do not offer chair rentals because we are obsessed with quality. We do not simply exist to be just another hair salon. We, as a team, are deeply committed to making a meaningful impact on everyone who works here — and come to work every day to build relationships with our clients that outlast hair appointments.
